iPhone, iPad in Pakistan
iPhone and iPad are not to sell or buy in Pakistan, Yet surprisingly every Apple product is available in Pakistan. Be it iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, MAC Pro, MAC Mini or anything else. Recently iPhone 4 was released and its available in Pakistan. If you buy iPhone from Apple store (iStore) or order it online it will come at its original cost but we have observed that in Pakistan iPhone, iPad have been sold at the double price than the original. I wonder why Apple does not allow iPhone and iPad to be sold in Pakistan yet. These are popular gadgets among youngsters. Even students buy iPhone more than the other folks.
Mobile Phone has been considered class and status symbol. You get a cheap mobile, people will think low of you. You get a costly pretty mobile gadget, people will think high of you. Gadget craze is not new. People jailbreak iPhone and iPad to use in Pakistan and they even can not use iTunes and iTune store, yet they eagerly buy iPhone and iPad. Online computer hardware and mobile phone stores in Pakistan are actively selling iPhone and iPad at double the original price and people are buying this stuff. e.g. Panorama Computer Center or Shophive. Hafeez Centre is a computer and mobile phones market in Lahore where you can go and easily find best iPhone or iPad for you and buy it.
How is it that in-spite of being illegal to sell these gadgets in Pakistan, these are still selling like hot cakes in Pakistan? Apple has iStore in Pace Lahore Pakistan but iPhone is not available there. Should not it be more profitable for Apple to allow iPhone sell and buy in Pakistan as well. I am sure there would be a lot of countries out there where it is illegal to buy, sell iPhone but there are people who are distributing iPhone in those country regardless of the fact that its illegal. I think Apple should allow Pakistani customers to officially use iPhone as well.
iPhone 4 has video calling capabilities which is by using iPhone 4 you can video call at another iPhone 4. That’s an amazing feature and advancement that Apple has made to simplify the video calls process and facility. In Pakistan video calls using iPhone won’t work because your Mobile Network (e.g. Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Telenor) should also support this feature. Currently they do not support video calling. iPhone 4 supports video calls but network in Pakistan yet does not allow video conversations. I believe if they will support this video calling then they will charge from you some extra bucks.
Anyways! Say hello to iPhone 4. And people who bought iPhone 3GS earlier would be sad to read the rich features list of new iPhone 4. But Pakistani folks want all Apple products. They like to have luxury in all aspects of their possessions. They want smart solution, kick ass pretty fine gadgets. They want to revolutionize the way they interact and share their lives with friends and family.
